Learners stay when they can see where they're going. A clear progression — from first sail to confident skipper — turns a one-off course booking into a multi-year relationship.

Map the whole journey

Lay out every stage from taster to advanced, showing what each course leads to. When a learner finishes one course, the next step should be obvious and appealing.

Remove the gaps

Progression breaks down where there's no next course to book, or a daunting jump between levels. Fill those gaps with improver sessions, practice days and bridging courses.

Celebrate milestones

Certificates, badges and recognition at each stage give learners a sense of achievement and a reason to continue. People love to collect progress.

Communicate the next step every time

At the end of every course, learners should leave knowing what to book next and when it runs. The best moment to sell the next course is the high of finishing this one.

Track where learners are

Knowing each learner's stage lets you recommend the right next course and spot who's about to drift away. Good records turn progression from hope into a system.
